So, you snore, huh? That’s gonna be a problem. Not for your spouse, even though I am sure they would like it if you didn’t.

The problem is most likely for your heart and your brain. Snoring is a sign of sleep apnea, and it will kill you. I mean, after it makes your quality of life terrible, you are always tired and feel like crap. Then after a while, you’ll die.

The sound of snoring is the sound of obstructive sleep apnea, and you need to have a sleep study to get it checked. If you snore, you have apnea. How bad is the question? You’re fine if your total oxygen levels stay at or above 90.

However, if your oxygen levels drop below 88% for too long this will lead to damage to your heart and brain over time. This is a serious issue, so do not take it lightly.

Now you should also know that you do not have to snore to have sleep apnea. If you are tired more during the day than you think you should be.

If you fall asleep easier or more often than you think you should. If you get migraine headaches, have seizures, or have serious concentration issues, these can all be a sign that you must have a sleep study. This could be a sign of what is called central sleep apnea. With central sleep apnea, you stop breathing for too long, which drives down your oxygen levels.

Do you have to be overweight to have apnea? No, some people I have seen with the worst apnea were fit, young, and in shape.

If you have symptoms, get checked.

If your doctor does not order you a test, you can take this home test and see if you have any issues.
