Sports Injuries/Wellness

Sports Injury Chiropractic Care Trusted by Athletes — From Professionals to Weekend Warriors

As an athlete myself, I believe strongly that no athlete should see a non-athlete doctor. Why? Because athletes push their bodies differently. We know what it means to train, to compete, and to fight through pain. We also know how devastating an injury can feel when it keeps you from the sport you love.

At Pillars of Wellness, I’ve worked with professional athletes in nearly every sport, as well as golfers, tennis players, high school competitors, and weekend warriors. Whether you’re playing at the highest level or just want to stay active, our mission is the same: keep you moving, healing, and performing at your best. “Dr. Matt Chalmers, DC, CCCN, CCSP”

Why Athletes Trust Our Care

Sports injuries are unique. They demand a treatment plan that addresses not only pain relief but also performance, mobility, and long-term function. That’s why we combine:

  • Chiropractic adjustments to restore alignment and prevent recurring strain
  • Neurological-based treatment protocols are designed around how muscles and tendons actually work together
  • Spinal decompression (Dr. Matt Chalmers is certified in Spinal Decompression) for disc injuries and nerve compression
  • Targeted soft tissue therapy to reduce inflammation and improve recovery

This approach doesn’t just mask pain — it restores proper function so you can play harder, longer, and with fewer setbacks.

Specialized Treatment Successes

Over the years, I’ve developed highly effective, results-driven treatment protocols for conditions that frustrate athletes the most:

  • Plantar Fasciitis – Eliminating foot pain so you can run, jump, and train again
  • Frozen Shoulder – Restoring mobility and strength in overhead athletes
  • Scoliosis Management – Supporting alignment and reducing long-term strain
  • Carpal Tunnel Relief – Restoring grip strength and dexterity for precision sports

Each protocol is rooted in neurology and biomechanics — not cookie-cutter rehab.

Common Sports Injuries We Treat

  • Sprains and strains
  • Tendonitis and overuse injuries
  • Herniated discs and sciatica
  • Rotator cuff injuries
  • Hip, knee, and ankle injuries
  • Concussions (supportive care alongside medical oversight)

Disc injuries often respond well to spinal decompression. Learn more on our Slipped and Herniated Disc, Back Pain and Massage Therapy pages.

Healing Is Chemistry, Not Just Mechanics

An adjustment or a rehab plan fixes the mechanics. But tissue only rebuilds as fast as the body can supply the raw materials and the signals to do it. That is why athletes who heal slowly, re-injure the same area or never quite get back to full strength often have something going on beneath the injury itself.

Because Pillars of Wellness is a medical and functional medicine practice as well as a chiropractic office, we can look at the whole picture:

  • Protein and nutrients. Tendons, ligaments and cartilage are built from collagen and amino acids, and repair depends on vitamin C, zinc, magnesium and vitamin D. Low intake means slow healing. See our Nutrition page.
  • Hormones. Testosterone, growth hormone and thyroid all drive tissue repair and recovery. When they run low, recovery stalls. See Hormone Therapy and Growth Hormone and IGF-1.
  • Inflammation and blood sugar. High blood sugar and insulin resistance slow healing and keep inflammation elevated. Our Metabolic Reset addresses the root cause.
  • Sleep. Most tissue repair and growth hormone release happen during deep sleep.
  • Peptides. For some patients we discuss repair-focused peptides such as BPC-157 and TB-500. See Peptide Therapy for details and regulatory status.

A note for tested athletes: many hormones and peptides, including testosterone, BPC-157 and TB-500, are prohibited by WADA, the NCAA and most professional leagues. If you compete in a tested sport, tell us up front and we will build your recovery plan around what your sport allows.

Training to Stay Healthy

The best injury is the one that never happens. Once you are back in action, our Custom Exercise Programs focus on strength, mobility and balance between muscle groups, so the same weak link does not fail again.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral to be seen for a sports injury?
No. You can schedule directly with our office in Frisco. New patients start with a free consultation.

Can you work with my coach, trainer or physical therapist?
Yes. We are happy to coordinate care so everyone is working toward the same return-to-play plan.

How soon after an injury should I come in?
As soon as you can. Early care usually means faster recovery and less compensation in other areas of the body.
