What Is Peptide Therapy?

Peptides are short chains of amino acids that act as signaling molecules in the body — directing processes like metabolism, tissue repair, and hormone release. At Pillars of Wellness, peptide therapy is one part of a broader, personalized approach to metabolic and hormone health, always built around your labs and overseen by our medical team.

How We Use Peptide Therapy

Depending on your goals and lab work, peptide therapy may be incorporated into your protocol alongside hormone optimization, nutrition, and lifestyle changes. Because peptides work through specific biological pathways, the right choice — and whether peptide therapy is appropriate for you at all — depends on an individualized evaluation with our providers.

Something to Remember

Peptides, like hormones, are command instructions to the body — rebuild this tissue, build more bone, run this chemical process, bake me a cake. The problem we get into, and where we see the most serious side effects, is when the body runs out of nutrients. It’s hard to bake a cake when you don’t have any eggs. If you are looking at using peptides, you must address your overall nutrient intake. You might want to lose weight, but if you don’t supplement properly, the weight you lose will most likely be muscle — and that’s a detriment to your goals every time.

Peptides We Work With

Who Is a Good Candidate for Peptide Therapy?

If your body is not responding properly to diet and exercise, peptide therapy could be a big help. Anyone who wants to bring their body to optimal function is a good candidate, especially if something needs to heal, grow or strengthen, or if you need help losing fat.

Who Should Not Use Peptides, or Should Wait?

If you have active cancer, or are pregnant or breastfeeding, peptide therapy may not be the best option for you right now. Check with your medical team first.

How Peptide Therapy Works at Pillars of Wellness

  1. Free consultation. We learn your goals and the problems you want to solve.
  2. Labs when helpful. Blood work helps us choose and dose peptides, though it is not always required.
  3. Your custom plan. We recommend the peptides that fit your goals, along with the nutrition your body needs to use them safely.
  4. Ongoing follow-up. Scheduled Zoom calls, progress tracking and repeat labs, so we can catch and correct issues early, often before they show up in blood work.

Peptide Therapy FAQs

It’s using small chains of amino acids to communicate with your natural systems and turn them on or off. Peptides are commands to the system to heal, regenerate, repair, or produce more or less of a hormone. They are what tell your body to use those vitamins, amino acids, and minerals to build or rebuild tissue.

Yes. Peptide therapy is legal in Texas when prescribed and supervised by a licensed provider. Some peptides are FDA-approved for specific uses and others are not; your provider will explain the status of any peptide recommended for you.

Peptide therapy is very safe. Each peptide has its own parameters of what to watch out for. When you work with us, we help you choose which peptides are best for your goals and then go over what to watch for.

Most peptides are used by injection. However, the needle is very small, and most people get used to it by the second shot.

You don’t have to; that’s our job. All you have to know is what your goals are. Do you want to lose fat, build muscle, or repair your mitochondria or your metabolic system? Great, we can help.

Peptides are commands to the body: run a pathway, start a process, bake me a cake. It’s really hard to bake a cake without eggs. It’s also really difficult for the body to repair tissue if it does not have the raw materials it needs to build, rebuild, or clean up toxins.

This depends on your goals. Some people spend $100 a month; others can spend $1,000.

Yes, and this is often the best option. Your body critically needs testosterone, so keeping those levels optimal will help all your peptide needs. Peptides and hormones stack really well. As you optimize one aspect, it can help the others perform.

People often notice a change in the first few days. We usually see lab changes in the first few weeks, and visible fat and weight changes in the first few weeks as well. Some peptides can be used long term; others, like ipamorelin, need a break every 8 to 10 weeks so your receptors can reset.

We use licensed U.S. pharmacies, such as PHC, whenever we can. The best way to confirm a peptide’s quality is third-party testing.

We run follow-up labs to verify changes, track your weight loss or muscle gain with you, and hold scheduled Zoom follow-up calls. We are always available for questions, and we can often correct an issue well before blood work shows a problem.

Some are. Peptides such as tesamorelin and semaglutide are FDA-approved for specific uses, while many others, such as BPC-157 and TB-500, are not FDA-approved. Your provider will explain the status of any peptide we discuss with you.

They are very similar. Both hormones and peptides give the body commands to heal, repair, or start or stop a chemical process, and both require the right nutrition for the body to carry out those commands properly and safely. If you are not getting nutritional guidance while using peptides or hormones, seek it out.

Yes. GLP-1 medications are a class of peptides that includes semaglutide and tirzepatide. Retatrutide is a newer peptide in this family that is still investigational and not yet FDA-approved.

Yes. Giving yourself an injection is much easier than most people expect. We teach you how to do your own injections safely and make sure you are comfortable before you start.

Yes. We work with patients across the US by telehealth and can ship prescribed peptides to you.
