Description
Superior HCL – Digestive Activation Formula
Support your digestion. Fuel your transformation.
Why You Need It
As we age, and when we are under stress, stomach acid production can decline. That can leave proteins poorly broken down and nutrients under-absorbed. Dr. Chalmers uses HCL in the clinic as one of the first steps in getting digestion back to its original design.
What It Supports
- Complete digestion of protein-rich meals
- Nutrient absorption
- A healthy stomach environment, the body’s first line of defense
- Digestive comfort, with less occasional bloating and gas
- Better results from your other supplements
What’s Inside
- Betaine HCl: supports healthy stomach acidity
- Pepsin: a protein-digesting enzyme
How Dr. Chalmers Uses It in Practice
Digestion starts in the stomach. Stomach acid unfolds proteins so enzymes like pepsin can break them down. It frees minerals such as iron, zinc and B12 so they can be absorbed, and it acts as a barrier against unwanted organisms. When acid runs low, people often feel heavy and bloated after protein meals, burp or get reflux-like discomfort, and stay low in nutrients no matter how well they eat.
Low acid is more common than most people think, especially with age, chronic stress and long-term use of acid-blocking medication. That is why HCL is one of the first steps in our functional medicine gut work. It also helps patients get more from a protein-forward diet, which is the base of the nutrition plan we teach.
During a gut cleanse, we often pair HCL with Superior RFA and Wormwood. See the full protocol in Dr. Chalmers’ Parasite Cleanse Protocol.
Common Questions
How do I know if I am taking too much?
A warm or burning feeling in the stomach after a meal means the dose is more than you need. Drop back by one tablet at that meal.
Should I take it on an empty stomach?
No. Take it at the start of a meal that contains protein.
Who should not use HCL?
Do not use it if you have an active ulcer or gastritis, or if you take NSAIDs (such as ibuprofen) or steroids regularly, unless your provider approves it.
How to Use
- Start with 1 capsule per 100 lbs of body weight
- Take 3 times a day with breakfast, lunch and dinner
- Adjust with practitioner guidance
- Pairs well with RFA and Wormwood during a gut cleanse
Dr. Chalmers’ Notes
“If you feel bloated or are not getting the most from your food, start here. When your gut works, your whole body works.”
