Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:00:00] Now we’re.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:00:01] Live on axes and.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:00:02] Everything else.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:00:03] All right, so we’re gonna talk about pregnancy prep today. There’s a lot to.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:00:07] This, the the idea that, you know.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:00:11] And today’s society woman is just ready to get pregnant and have a have a baby and have it be the healthiest baby possible. And she’s going to be healthy is absurd. First thing we got gotta do is we run.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:00:20] Through and we.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:00:23] Do our primary detox. We clean up the body, kidneys, liver.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:00:26] Got.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:00:27] Kill the parasites, kill the yeast. That’s a big piece. So, I mean, walk through that. I mean, not just play through that. So in eastern medicine, kidneys the wellspring of life. So when we see anxiety, when we see depression, we talk about postpartum issues. That’s a big kidney thing. We treat it that way every time. We’ve had lots of good success bringing the postpartum kind of funk out, that you can prevent it by keeping all these things flowing. The other thing is that kidney, we got to flush that kidney and keep everything flowing out. That’s a detox organ getting the waste.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:00:56] Out of the body. You need to get the body ready.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:00:59] Beforehand and then all the way through the pregnancy, you know, got to feed those organs, make sure that we’re getting all the waste out, because, remember, the baby’s being built.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:01:07] In the mom.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:01:08] Mom is the factory for the baby cleaner. The factory? The less waste, the better the baby’s going to be. The healthier the baby’s going to be. Healthier mom’s going to be. So we’re going to keep those things up. So get the kidneys cleaned out.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:01:19] Get the liver, liver.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:01:21] It’s gonna be big for sleep. It’s big for digestion. It’s big for creation or energy.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:01:26] Your.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:01:26] Liver is is responsible for making all the sugar for gluconeogenesis. It’s responsible for processing fat, turning into energy, turning it into cholesterol, which we use for energy. Cholesterol is extremely important for you don’t.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:01:40] Don’t believe in.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:01:40] Medical nonsense and destroy your health by getting rid your cholesterol. That’s the main question. Is, are major fuel source for your heart and for baby’s heart?
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:01:49] So we got.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:01:49] To get that. You got to get to the liver where it’s supposed to be. We got to kill all the parasites that are stealing nutrients. There’s a keeping your body from.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:01:57] Having a.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:01:57] Normal gut.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:01:57] Flora.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:01:59] Kill the parasites. Kill the yeast. You want some? Used to deal with heavy metals, but you want to get the vast majority of it.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:02:04] Gone because that’s.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:02:05] Causing.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:02:06] You know.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:02:06] Bloating, gas, lots of stuff. But it’s also restricting your body from processing and creating nutrients like we’re supposed to. So when we talk about adrenal deficiency or Pots, those sort of things.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:02:17] Wildly important, wildly important.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:02:19] For pregnancy.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:02:21] We.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:02:22] Got to get this, probiotics. And we got to get all those things.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:02:24] May we get methylated B vitamins made?
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:02:27] Doesn’t another no. PTA start taking methylated B vitamins two six.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:02:32] Folic acid 12.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:02:35] Before you try to get pregnant. Because the neural tube, which is the brain and spinal cord that forms in the first like ten days. And so most of the time you’re like, oh, you’re pregnant. Congrats. Take your folic acid. It’s too late.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:02:48] So you got to get out. You got to get.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:02:49] Ahead of that one on folic.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:02:51] Acid. But your brain and your body.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:02:54] Uses folic acid a lot. So we have to.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:02:56] Give the mom enough.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:02:58] Folic acid that it fills up her bucket so she doesn’t need.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:03:01] Any more. Then we have.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:03:03] Extra for baby. And so that’s why taking the folic acid the methylated folic acid, the elemental tetra hydrophobic before you get pregnant is really important. The other thing we got to make sure we do is radically increase iodine. Iodine is. So the difference between thyroid never seen T3 and T4 is T4 has one more molecule of iodine.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:03:24] So think about that.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:03:25] 80% of all of the thyroid hormone you produce is T4.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:03:29] So you need a lot of iodine.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:03:31] To make the proper.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:03:32] Amount of, thyroid hormone. Now.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:03:34] Thyroid hormone has been linked to intelligence in children.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:03:37] So I would.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:03:38] 100% make sure that you guys get your thyroid hormones.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:03:42] Up. You know, whether we.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:03:43] Have to.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:03:44] Whether iodine.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:03:45] Will raise them like.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:03:46] Where.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:03:46] We need it to or whether we need to supplement that, that thyroid hormone somehow that’s something I would 100% look at. I’m a big fan of keeping the bodies as healthy as possible. So I like the testosterone in that 100 to 200 range. That’s just because, you.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:04:03] Know, that’s the we want the body to heal.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:04:05] We want it to regenerate. We want to repair, not just repair and rebuild.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:04:08] Baby.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:04:09] But we want to regenerate. Repair them.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:04:11] All.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:04:11] Because, remember, like, here’s the big thing, people, I think, miss way too much. When dad gives up the sperm.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:04:19] We’re done.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:04:21] For, like, a.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:04:21] Long time. Like we.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:04:23] Really are.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:04:24] Rule now.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:04:25] No offense to anybody who does it differently. Our rule really starts after the baby is, like, six, eight months. Mom generates baby, carries baby, does all the massive amount of crazy hard work with that gives birth. And then.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:04:39] We’re like.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:04:39] Why don’t you lay down and rest for like, I don’t know, 7 or 8 minutes and then you got to feed this thing and change it and you got to do all the mom stuff.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:04:46] So we have to.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:04:47] Recognize that not only do we have to feed mom before she is.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:04:49] Pregnant.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:04:50] During the pregnancy, we have to keep in mind what is going to happen to mom when baby pops out. I think the vast majority of people.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:04:58] Once.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:04:58] Baby pops out, they checked out.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:05:00] They’re like, oh, we’re done.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:05:02] You’re not done. Mom is in a massive mom just ran a marathon. You’re just gonna be like, all right, peace out. She’s fine. That’s not how that works. She’s not fine. You’ve got to feed her. You got to coach. You got to walk her back through the massive trauma that this pregnancy. Nothing destroys a woman’s body. I’ve seen I’ve seen horrible car wrecks requiring massive surgery that didn’t destroy a woman’s body nearly as much as getting pregnant. So we need to factor in what else is going on. So we got to clean mom up afterwards, and then make sure mom has all the nutrients she needs for if she’s gonna breastfeed, which I would recommend. But if you can’t, that’s.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:05:38] We’re not calling you out.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:05:41] We need to make sure that the breast milk has as much nutrients as possible.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:05:45] So, you know, we’re.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:05:46] Going through that.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:05:47] One now.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:05:47] The other pieces. And I’m convincing.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:05:49] Like, a lot.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:05:50] We do a ton of stuff, so we’re trying to condition into the ten minute. The other thing we gotta do, because we gotta work.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:05:55] On her diet.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:05:56] If she’s eating junk. So here’s I keep talking about this.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:06:00] When we have mold.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:06:02] And we’re like, how do we detox mold? I’m like, stop. Have you gotten rid of all the mold around you first?
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:06:08] And then.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:06:08] The amazing thing.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:06:09] Sugar. Well, no, we have.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:06:11] That schedule because it’s very expensive, but we’re not gonna get that done in a couple.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:06:14] Months.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:06:15] If you don’t stop the thing that’s poisoning.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:06:17] You right now.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:06:19] Then there’s no reason to detox because you’re still getting poisoned.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:06:22] So we got.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:06:23] To change mom’s diet. We got to watch glycemic function. You wanna talk about gestational diabetes? You don’t have to take that glucose test. That’s stupid. That’s a horrible thing to do. Just understand how the body works and feed yourself accordingly. Natural foods. Low glycemic. Your body. Totally fine if you want. And there’s all sorts of things that you can supplement. Because when women have these weird cravings.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:06:44] It’s it’s normally we’re.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:06:46] Tracing this back. We think it’s normal because.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:06:48] You know, you’re mineral.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:06:49] Or nutrient deficient and those things color into what you’re wanting. So there’s a large supplementation thing that we do with women. Just make sure they have all the chemicals they need.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:06:57] So the baby has all the chemicals they need.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:06:59] But at the same time, what’s going on in your mouth? So I talk to women all the time. I’m like, what’s your body? What’s your thing?
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:07:06] And they’re like, I really, really, really like alcohol. I’m like, well, you know.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:07:12] Like, well, what about chocolate? I can get you all kinds of chocolate that’s going to be healthy for you, not make you fat and going to be beneficial for you and the baby. So when you’re eating this chocolate, it’s no longer really a cheat. It’s a beneficial thing you need. Dark chocolate’s phenomenal for you if you get the right kind. So there’s lots of things like that, you know, making sure, oh, you want pancakes?
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:07:30] Great.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:07:31] Here’s the here’s the path. You want cookies and cakes. It’s like.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:07:34] Fine, here’s the path. You know, you don’t have.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:07:37] To gain 100 pounds with your baby. You just have to get the nutrients. And remember.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:07:41] Again.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:07:42] And I say this all the time and people are still kind of not understanding it. The calories thing is trash. It is not a real model. It is not real. It is basically made to confuse you because that’s not how the body works at all.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:07:54] So we’ve.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:07:55] Got to make sure that we’re getting the nutrients.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:07:57] In to build baby, because you can add in.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:08:00] If you’re going to do the calories thing, you can add in calories. They’re going to be, you know, oh, you have to eat more calories. But I mean massively detrimental to you and the baby. So don’t just be adding in calories because you’re adding calories. Understanding. Work with someone who understands the chemistry that you’re adding in nutrients. They’re going to benefit.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:08:15] Mom and baby.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:08:16] Long term because there’s a there’s a real there’s lots of real.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:08:20] Easy ways of doing it.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:08:21] So we got to die.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:08:23] Now the next.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:08:24] Thing is we’ve got to get her exercising.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:08:27] So a lot of this.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:08:28] So when I talk to 26 to 30 year old.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:08:30] Women all the time and they’re like, yeah, I.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:08:33] Had a baby or two, and now I. When I laugh, I pee on.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:08:36] Myself a little bit.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:08:37] Okay, so that’s incontinence. Female athletes have this.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:08:39] A lot of.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:08:40] A lot of women after they’ve had babies have this. And so that’s what we’re that’s the issue we’re going to get into is that if we don’t strengthen the pelvic floor, if we.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:08:48] Don’t, you know.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:08:49] Work those key goals. If we don’t, we don’t get all that stuff ready to go. You’re going to have a horrible time during, you know, during pregnancy, labor and then afterwards. And so trying to rebuild stuff after it’s been destroyed.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:09:01] Is not a great option. You can.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:09:04] Do it, but it’s the worst option you can.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:09:06] Pet.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:09:07] So teaching women how to strengthen their core, which is actually the power. So it’s not.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:09:11] Your abs, it’s your pelvis and.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:09:13] Everything attaches to it. Hamstrings. Your abs are equally important for your core, so getting that thing rebuilt, getting the pelvis ready to go is super important.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:09:23] Now the other thing.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:09:24] Is, is that we work with women all over the country. In this one.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:09:27] Finding a really.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:09:29] Good pediatric chiropractor is a.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:09:30] Phenomenal thing.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:09:32] To do. It is not one of those things you’re like, well, maybe for luxury.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:09:35] Or.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:09:35] Maybe if you’re high.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:09:36] End, or.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:09:37] Maybe if.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:09:37] You know, you’ve got, you know.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:09:39] Money to throw.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:09:39] Away.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:09:40] It’s super duper important. You want to talk about, you know, positioning your baby properly. You want to talk about making sure the pelvic because your pelvis and everything in there moves around.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:09:49] As you get.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:09:50] More and more pregnant, you release a hormone called relaxin.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:09:53] And what.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:09:53] Its job is to do is to relax all the joints in your body so that your pubic symphysis can open.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:09:58] Up.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:09:58] And baby can pass through your pelvis. However, the relaxing works on all your joints, your spinal joints, your hip joints, your toe joints, your finger joints.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:10:06] All of them.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:10:07] And so you start missing out loosey goosey and things just get nasty. They just hurt all the time. And the ache and everything’s terrible. So as you’re going through getting adjusted, you can really, really help that it’s going to just going to speed up.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:10:19] We have seen.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:10:21] A do very careful legally on this one. We have seen.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:10:24] That it can in.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:10:27] Certain circumstances speed up pregnancy, help the baby turn.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:10:32] And go head down. It can help with pain.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:10:35] It can help with function. It’s really super beneficial. So if you’re wondering how big of a deal this is, I hired a pediatric chiropractor to come work with me just to take care of my wife. That’s why I hired Kelly. Best decision I’ve ever made. She’s a.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:10:51] By the way.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:10:51] If you’re in the area. Forever young chiropractic, Kelly beer and Doctor Dosha. I can’t remember her last time. She didn’t kill me.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:11:01] She got married, I forgot it. My bad.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:11:04] But forever young. Those guys are.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:11:05] Amazing.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:11:07] Like, if you. So instead of getting a helmet for your baby, take them. Kelly, I have a reshape of skull. That’s what Kelly did for Zane. My oldest. Phenomenal job. His head looks like a Klingon.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:11:16] It was all weird.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:11:17] And she, like, moved all the bones around now. Perfect around because he’s going to have my haircut one day.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:11:22] And I wanted.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:11:22] To make sure his head was.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:11:23] Round, not lumpy.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:11:24] And it is round now.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:11:26] So thanks, Kelly. Doctor health. But.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:11:29] Anyway, so pediatric chiropractic should be a massive thing. So, guys, if you’re trying to figure out what can I do for my wife? She’s pregnant. Find her a solid chiropractor now. So I’m not someone who does pediatrics, but someone who’s an ICP certified.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:11:43] Like like a real deal. They’ve they’ve done the gone and they’ve done Webster technique.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:11:48] They’ve done the whole thing. They’ve gone to the courses or to the International Chiropractic Association certified.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:11:54] Like.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:11:55] They’ve done the time.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:11:56] Right.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:11:57] So you should be able to find those. And if you can’t find them, look harder because there’s that important. So those are some of the things that we usually like to do. I just try to cram a two hour lecture I give to women just 12 minutes.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:12:11] So there’s.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:12:12] A lot missing. But if you guys are, if you’re if you’re pregnant right now, if you’re wanting to become pregnant.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:12:18] You know.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:12:19] Get Ahold of us. I can walk you through the whole protocol. I can walk you through how it works. I still recommend that you do the executive physical beforehand, because, you know, the amount of times that we’ve looked for heart issues or we’ve looked for something, we’ve found heart issues or we found weird issues, is pretty significant. So, you know, if we can find a heart issue.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:12:38] In mom, then we can be like, well.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:12:40] Here’s what we’re going to do to safeguard your heart while you’re pregnant. Because there’s a lot of hormonal changes. There’s a lot of pressure changes. There’s a lot of nutrient changes. There’s a lot of lots of stuff that happens. And so we want to make sure that everything’s good. So.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:12:53] Oh, and my God, a sleep study.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:12:56] 100% super critical for her wanting to get pregnant. Because if you’re not breathing right at night, that’s not only damage you can damage, baby, but while you’re pregnant, it’s going to make it worse. So we 100% need a sleep study.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:13:09] So when we we.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:13:10] Walk pregnant, when we walk, when we want to get pregnant through, we do the executive physical to make sure there’s no issues.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:13:15] That we don’t know about yet. So. There we go. Now we’re back on Instagram. So.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:13:20] Yeah. To run to the executive is go runs through the pregnancy planning thing. It’s super duper important. But yeah, if you guys have any questions, hit us up.
