Speaker 1 [00:00:02] On New Year’s resolution is like everyone in the U.S., it’s a bit healthier this year.

Speaker 2 [00:00:07] I think I do pretty good on my resolution. But thing life gets in the way. So sometimes it’s hard.

Host 3 [00:00:16] We’re hearing from Metro Detroit is about Their goals for 2025 and what we can do to maintain them.

Host 1 [00:00:27] Well, as we approach 2025, a lot of people are talking about their goals that they want to achieve in the new year.

Host 2 [00:00:34] Now, of course the goals can vary. Many focused on improving their health, their finances or relationships. But the big question is how do you maintain those goals?

Host 1 [00:00:43] Seven News Detroit reporter Peter Maxwell is speaking to Metro Detroiters about the changes they want to make in the new year and how they feel about making those changes permanent.

Host 3 [00:00:55] Many are looking forward to a new year and a fresh start. Some are setting goals for the futures and others want to set personal goals for growth.

Speaker 3 [00:01:04] My only resolution for next year is good health, prosperity.

Speaker 1 [00:01:08] My New Year’s resolution is like everyone in the U.S., it’s to be healthier this year.

Speaker 4 [00:01:12] They were just too easy to break, I guess, right? I’m more of a habit guy.

Speaker 5 [00:01:17] My resolution for 2025 is to finally get my Small business started.

Host 3 [00:01:23] From health goals to starting a new business. The resolutions vary widely, but they all share a common theme the desire for personal growth and improvement.

Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:01:33] Because it’s the first of the year, isn’t a big enough y for a lot of people. So sitting down and kind of really figuring out what exactly are we trying to do?

Host 3 [00:01:41] Health expert Dr. Matt Chalmers has heard it all when it comes to resolutions and says they can be powerful motivators. However, it’s important to set realistic goals and to be consistent to increase the chances of success.

Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:01:56] Making things that are within your reach that are there. You know, you can functionally do is a big one. And having a coach for accountability and to help put these plans together is really important.

Speaker 6 [00:02:04] I think it’s just trying a little harder, doubling down. Keeping myself accountable.

Speaker 2 [00:02:11] I think I do pretty good on my resolution. But thing life gets in the way, so sometimes it’s hard.

Speaker 4 [00:02:17] Concentration and repetition, right? Like if you want to lose weight X number of pounds, I think the best way to do that is find whatever works for you and stick to it.

Speaker 5 [00:02:31] I try to look at, you know, big picture. What I’m trying to do and then isolate from there. So over the course of the year and then break it down into, you know, four quarters and then monthly, weekly for.

Speaker 3 [00:02:39] Myself to to stay healthy and stay going to the doctor for my family to stay healthy.

Speaker 1 [00:02:44] I think it’s dedication and discipline. But at the end of the day, it’s hard because let’s be honest, guys, life gets in the way, kids work, all of that stuff. But I think it’s all all about just what you want. And if you want to stick with it, stick with it. If you don’t, it’s okay. There’s always next year.
