It’s always best to get your nutrients from whole foods (because then you get the other vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients that are “along for the ride”), and if you’re hoping to combat chronic inflammation that means eating things like leafy vegetables, fatty fish, tomatoes and nuts. If you’re looking for a little *boost* to your anti-inflammatory efforts, doctors recommend the following daily supplements:

TURMERIC AND GINGER

“The best supplement for inflammation is a mix of turmeric and ginger,” health and wellness expert Dr. Matt Chalmers explains.

“This mix gets absorbed much better than straight turmeric and has both nutrients to decrease inflammation and restore normal function,” he explains. Wow–who knew?

FULLY METHYLATED B COMPLEX

The best vitamin to keep inflammation down and function up long-term is a fully methylated B complex, Dr. Chalmers advises. Lastly, “B12 can help us get up and move around thus pushing fluid through the blood vessels and lymph,” clearing toxic metabolites that would have created inflammation.

“B vitamins give food for the adrenals to help produce cortisol a natural anti-inflammatory,” he

VITAMIN C

“Vitamin C is ascorbic acid and is famous for its antioxidant benefits,” bariatric physician Amy Lee tells us. “I make recommendations of keeping oneself on 500-1000 mg daily in forms of supplements and/or focus on citrus fruits such as lemons, oranges and even pomegranate,” she advises. Also, Vitamin C “cofactors to a lot of biochemical pathways including collagen production which slows down the process of aging,” she says. Well, who doesn’t want that?!
